Here's her story in her own words:

"My name is Alicia and I'm a WAHM of three really great kids. That's work-at-home-mom for those who may not be familiar with the term. Two short years ago if you had told me I'd be working my own internet business from home I would have thought you were crazy.....but I'm doing it, and I'm having the time of my life.

Several years ago I was at a crossroads. Like so many women, I got blindsided by some really awful life events. I was recently divorced and my mother had just passed after a year long illness during which I was her caregiver. Once the dust settled I found myself unemployed, a single mom, burned out and not sure what to do next.

Sure I could get another job, but having to keep to a 9-5 schedule with three kids in three different schools at the time seemed almost impossible. After school care was expensive and my mom, who was my "go to" person when I needed child care was gone.

My dream was to be able to work from home, but it seemed like a pipe dream. But I had an idea that was born out of my need for information when I was at my lowest point. I wanted information on things to do and places to go with my kids, where we could have a good time without needing much money. At the time I wasn't savvy in the ways of saving money, or finding free or cheap entertainment for my family. I looked to the net for direction, but there just wasn't anything online in one place that gave me what I needed.

After a couple years of being on my own, getting back on my feet, and learning all the frugal shortcuts I could, I revisited the idea to build an online business. I wanted to create a website for fun-loving moms on a budget.

That was two short years ago. I created www.Fun-Frugal-Mom.com. A site to help moms like me, stretch their dollars while they nurture the fun-loving rhythm of their families. It started as a hobby. I didn't know the first thing about web design. I just knew what my vision was.

Dedication enabled me to build an online business. I spent my spare time learning, writing, and making my fair share of mistakes but it was empowering because my vision was becoming a reality. An actual online business. I was building a site that was drawing visitors, and feedback from those visitors let me know I was on the right track. The site was even earning an income much sooner than I expected. Enough for me to understand that it had the potential to earn much more. That was enough to make me happy......

.....then....about two weeks ago, I got a phone call from one of the producers of the Oprah Winfrey show! I could hardly believe it. They found my site through a search, just like most people do, and based on the information provided on my pages decided to give me a call because being frugal is such a hot topic. I was interviewed for a bit and told they may considering using me and my family in a future program. How cool is that?!? Now....there is no guaranty I'll ever actually be on Oprah, but the phone call alone was priceless and helped validate that I'm on the right path with my website and my business.

Most importantly, to build an online business enables me to be at home for my kids, and to be active in their lives. I can go to school events and meetings, or be with them with they're sick without having to ask a boss for time off. I drive them to school in the morning and I'm home when they come through the door in the afternoon. I make my "work" fit my life, not the other way around. And still, I've never worked so hard at any other "job" in my life. I've never had this much of myself invested, and I've never felt so in control of my own destiny.

The satisfaction that comes from having my own online business is indescribable and the rewards that come from it go way beyond dollars and cents.
